I started reading God is the Gospel by John Piper today. Good friend and pastor, Scott Boerckel, from Wildwood Baptist Church in E. Moline, IL, recommended this to me about six months ago. The premise is this: the good news of the gospel is that we get to know God. If we could go to heaven that was perfect, without pain, suffering, or imperfect relationships, and filled with pleasures, friendships and family but Christ was not there would we still want to go to heaven? As pastors we need to teach our congregations to say a resounding, “NO!”
